Early last Sunday morning members of TCA braved the cold weather at 7am to support the Cancer Council Relay for Life at the Edwards Lake Park Athletic Track, Reservoir. It was the first time this event had been held and over $16,200 was raised.
Overnight several people of all ages had been running or walking in teams taking it in turn to keep a baton moving for 24 hours. The event provides families, friends and community to celebrate cancer survivors, to remember loved ones lost to cancer and raise funds towards research.
Chief Instructor Song rallied those present to join in gentle stretching exercises and the Qigong Shibashi and Lotus Forms. Many had been at the track overnight supporting the participants with warm drinks and food. Others were runners or walkers who had just come off the track or were about to take their turn on the track. All agreed it was the ideal way to start the day; spines were loosened, calf and hamstrings stretched, anxiety reduced and everybody felt energised.
TCA was honoured to support the Cancer Council Relay for Life program.
