Tai Chi helps reduce depression in the elderly

Researchers at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), have found that Tai Chi, the gentle Chinese martial art, helps to reduce depression in people over the age of 65. The study found that elderly people with depression who took part in a standard depression treatment along with weekly Tai Chi had better results than those who did a combination of the standard treatment and a weekly health education class. While both groups showed improvement, the participants who did Tai Chi reported a more improved quality of life, better memory and cognition, and more overall energy.
