Chinese Lunar New Year – mass Tai Chi performance

The Chinese Lunar New Year – the Year of the Rat - is coming on 25 January, 2020. As part of the celebration, a mass Tai Chi performance will be held…

…on Whitehorse Road, Box Hill Central from 10.00am to 11.00am on Saturday 1st February 2020.

We wish all members a Happy and Prosperous Lunar New Year for The Year of the Metal Rat in 2020.
To Celebrate this event, WTQA has been invited to join with the Asian Business Association of Whitehorse Inc. at Box Hill Central in organising a Tai Chi mass performance of the Beijing 24. The day’s festivities will commence with the WTQA Tai Chi performance at 11:00am, but please arrive by 10:00am for registration.

Box Hill Central has lots of parking (For further details: https://www.boxhillcentral.com.au )

Outside the Bank of China, Box Hill Central, Whitehorse Rd. There will be a WTQA banner set up for you to easily locate WTQA officials. The event will be held on Whitehorse Rd (that will be closed) outside of Bank of China.

10:00 to 10:30am. School Representatives will need to confirm number of participants. Individuals will need to register their attendance.

You are encouraged to wear Tai Chi Silks or your School Uniform. If you don’t own either of these, plain black pants and a white T or polo shirt would be ideal but not mandatory. We cannot guarantee there will be suitable changeroom facilities so please come already dressed.

Please leave all your valuables at home. Alternately, bring a family member or friend to look after them for you. There will be an open place to leave possessions but we cannot guarantee their safety with such big crowds.

Location - The Beijing 24 Performance will be conducted on Whitehorse Road (closed to traffic), in front of the Bank of China.

Where to stand - At registration, schools will be given markers to line up behind e.g. A, B, C, D, etc., located on the ground. You will need to stand at an even distance apart to create a perfect grid formation. For individuals, please find a space closest to you that is not occupied.

Commencement time - Everybody needs to be lined up and ready to start at 11:00am.

Performance content- A brief warm up will be done, followed by the Beijing 24 form. If you are not 100% sure of this form, then you can follow along There will be music supplied so try and keep to the flow of the music and follow the people in front of you.

School representatives please return to Bank of China WTQA Banner where Master Tang, WTQA President would like to meet with you and thank you for your participation.

WTQA will have a stall at the Festival for the entire day. Participating Schools are encouraged to bring along brochures or banners promoting the school that will be displayed in the WTQA stall.

You are welcome to invite friends and family to join in the celebrations and watch this spectacular mass performance of Tai Chi.
