Do not miss this great opportunity to gain knowledge that will benefit you for the rest of your life.

Workshop 1

Session 1: The TCM Perspective of Life & Health Qigong Practice A treasure of traditional Chinese culture, Qigong is distinct from contemporary sports and exercises. Qigong is an exercise that regulates human life. In order to learn and practise Health Qigong well, one must have an in-depth understanding of human life from the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Professor Wenchun Zhang will expound on this unique TCM concept of life, the wisdom of the ancient Chinese cognition of life, and how it relates to the functions and effects of Health Qigong.

Session 2: Experiencing Qi and Health Qigong Movements Now that you have a clear picture of the principles and effects of Health Qigong practice through the explanation given in Session 1, the focus of the second session is on a deeper exposition on how to execute some of the movements in Health Qigong Yijinjing and Baduanjin and the rationale behind some. This will provide you with a direct experience of Qi (life force or energy) and a better understanding of Health Qigong.

Workshop 2: Dao Yin Yang Sheng Gong Shi Er Fa 12-Step Daoyin Health Preservation Exercises (12 Step Yang Sheng Health Preservation Exercises)

An exciting new set of Health Qigong exercises combining Dao Yin with healthcare, limb exercises and mental and spiritual relaxation was developed in 1974 by one of the world's leading Health Qigong experts, Professor Zhang Guangde. Created in conjunction with the Chinese Health Qigong Association it comprises 12 Movements and is adapted from over 50 forms that flow harmoniously from one movement to the next. It has become Health Qigong’s treasure. Based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine. it concentrates on the Zang Fu organs which, include the heart, liver, spleen lung, kidney and gall bladder, stomach, small intestine, large intestine and bladder; the meridians, balancing the yin and yang, the Five Elements, Qi and blood circulation.

It can be practiced in both seated and standing positions. Movements are graceful and easy to learn and are suitable for all ages. When breathing exercises are integrated into Yang Sheng, the movements are effective for promoting good health, preserving life, cultivating the spirit and prolonging life expectancy.

Workshop 3: Health Qigong for people with Parkinson’s Disease

Parkinson’s Disease (PD). Recent research indicates that more than 110,000 people may be living with PD in Australia, making it the most common major movement disorder and the second highest neurodegenerative condition with only dementia exceeding it in the number of deaths. Worldwide research shows that some exercises helps people with PD. Tai Chi and Health Qigong are both cited here: a post on research into Health Qigong and Parkinson's Disease and Tai Chi and Postural Stability in Patients with Parkinson’s Disease.

Health Qigong Master, Liu Xiao Lei from the Beijing Sport University specialises in Health Qigong for people with PD. Her recent PhD paper “Effects of Health Qigong Exercises on Relieving Symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease” has received acclaim world-wide. She will share details of her research, the results and update the implications and opportunities for the future. She will be joined by fellow Health Qigong Master Zhu Jing Yuan, Chinese Health Qigong Association to teach Health Qigong exercises to help relieve symptoms of PD and to discuss and answer any questions .Why not come and try?
